The Position:
The Lower School Curriculum Coordinator will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading a dynamic and innovative Concept-Based Inquiry (CBCI) curriculum. This position requires a deep understanding of CBCI principles, educational pedagogy, and assessment practices. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, creative, and detail-oriented individual who can inspire and guide teachers in implementing a rigorous and engaging curriculum, aligned with school wide and campus goals, the ZIS Mission, Learning Principles and Strategic Priorities.
Curriculum Development and Implementation:
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive CBCI curriculum aligned with the school's mission and vision.
- Design engaging and relevant units of inquiry aligned with the school’s standards and practices
- Develop a robust assessment system that measures student learning in both knowledge and skills.
- Oversee internal and external assessments and reporting.
- Oversee inventorying, analysing and ordering of curriculum & instructional resources.
- Be an active member and leader of the ZIS Curriculum Leadership team.
Professional Development:
- Provide ongoing professional development for teachers on CBCI principles, inquiry-based learning, bilingual education best practices and differentiated instruction.
- Support teachers in designing and implementing high-quality learning experiences.
- Model effective teaching practices and co-plan with teachers to ensure alignment with the CBCI framework and outcomes of the local curriculum when appropriate.
Curriculum Support and Monitoring:
- Monitor the implementation of the CBCI curriculum across all grade levels, subject areas and pathways.
- Provide support and guidance to teachers in documenting, planning, teaching, and assessing student learning.
- Conduct regular curriculum reviews and evaluations to ensure ongoing improvement.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and coherent curriculum, across the whole school.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about the curriculum
- Stay up-to-date on current educational trends and research, particularly in the field of CBCI, UDL, the local curriculum and Bilingual Education.

- High level of English proficiency, with proficiency in German an advantage.

Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience with curriculum development and implementation, particularly in an international school setting.
- Experience in leading professional learning opportunities and facilitating effective professional development.
- Lower School teaching experience, with a deep understanding of early childhood and elementary education.
- A strong understanding of effective instructional strategies, assessment practices, and differentiated instruction.
- Knowledge of learning data analytics and the ability to use data to inform instructional decisions.
- Strong understanding of language acquisition, multilingualism, and culturally responsive teaching.
