The Position:

The Director of Teaching and Learning: Curriculum oversees the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the school’s curriculum (written, taught, and assessed)  across all divisions. They ensure that curriculum development aligns with the school’s mission, vision, and strategic goals while adhering to internationally recognized standards and best practices. The Director of Teaching and Learning: Curriculum works in close partnership with other key leadership roles as per the organizational chart.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Curriculum Leadership:
    • Develop and maintain a cohesive and coherent curriculum framework.
    • Lead curriculum reviews and updates to ensure alignment with international standards and the needs of all learners.
    • Ensuring that the curriculum and teaching practices are inclusive and reflective of diverse cultures and perspectives. This requires a commitment to equity and social justice in education.
  2. Professional Development:
    • Plan and implement ongoing professional learning opportunities for faculty related to curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment.
    • Mentor and support instructional leaders in curriculum development and delivery.
  3. Collaboration and Integration:
    • Collaborate with divisional leadership and other colleagues to ensure horizontal and vertical alignment of the curriculum.
    • Work with school leadership to integrate the curriculum into broader school programs and initiatives.
  4. Innovation and Research:
    • Stay informed about trends and research in education to drive innovation in curriculum design and instruction.
    • Pilot and evaluate new teaching strategies and resources.
  5. Student Outcomes:
    • Monitor and analyze student performance data to inform curriculum decisions.
    • Ensure the curriculum supports the development of key competencies, including critical thinking, creativity, and intercultural understanding.

 

Desired qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in curriculum leadership and development.
  • Strong understanding of language acquisition, multilingualism, and culturally responsive teaching.
